Where the trail begins

Welcome to our charming community, of Fries, Virginia. Take a step back to a simpler time. Relax and enjoy our peaceful sanctuary. We have modern accommodations that offer light airy surroundings in a fully furnished studio. The apartment sleeps four between its queen-size bed and futon. The kitchen is fully equipped and the bathroom comes with tub and shower. Linens and towels are provided. For your convenience we offer local calls and a 25” TV with a DVD player and VCR.

The apartment is walking distance to the New River and New River Trail. The trail offers bike riding, hiking, bird watching, and horseback riding. Bike rentals are available in town. The New River is a place where you can fish, canoe, inner-tube, and kayak. Rentals are just a few minutes from the apartment. We suggest you visit downtown Fries. Stop at one of our restaurants, and have some of that good old home cooking, or browse at the Back Porch Gallery which features artwork and crafts by local artisans.

Fries is known for its mountain music and Fiddlers convention. There are many local talented musicians, in the area. Relax and listen to music, every weekend at the Café’, in Fries.

If you are a biking enthusiast, the Virginia Creeper Trail is only a forty-five minute drive. Spend the day riding down the side of a mountain. Take in the scenery and enjoy the mountain air. You can rent bikes or bring your own.

We are also close to the Blue Ridge Music Center on the Parkway, Mount Rogers National Recreation Area and the renowned, Rex Theater of Galax. Galax is a ten minute drive from the apartment. The city offers many dining experiences and antique shops.
